Do you enjoy evoking gasps of "Holy-wah?!" by performing feats of strength in front of friends and family? Do you have an unnatural need to move heavy objects just to make others feel weak and puny? If so, we've got a competition for you!
Join us for the first-ever (and maybe only-ever) Pasty Pull Competition! We're challenging the Copper County's strongest to harness pure pasty power to pull a truck as fast as they can down a street in Historic Calumet. Wow the crowd during the 19th Annual Pasty Fest and take home the prize and win eternal glory.
It's you versus a truck (make and model to be determined). Contestants are harnessed to the front of a vehicle using a towstrap. You've got 5 minutes to get those legs churning to pull it down the 100-ft track in Downtown Calumet. The Prize The purse is $500 in Keweenaw Cash. Winner-take-all. Pasty Fest Art PrizeMain Street Calumet’s Pasty Fest 2023 is proud to announce the world’s first Pasty Art Prize Competition sponsored by Visit Keweenaw. Artists from across the Upper Peninsula have an opportunity to submit pasty-themed artwork. The pieces and installations will be displayed in local Calumet businesses, allowing customers and community members to explore Calumet’s gorgeous, historic downtown and vote on their favorite pieces.
The voting period will last for 30 days, and the top three pieces will be announced on Saturday, Aug. 19 during Pasty Fest 2023 in Calumet. The 1st place winner will receive $300 in Keweenaw Cash, 2nd place takes $150 and 3rd will receive $50. Pasty Fest 2023 is excited to partner with Upper Peninsula artists of all ages to explore our food heritage through art. The competition gives individuals the opportunity to express their connections to pasties in a unique way. The world’s first Pasty Art Prize Competition will engage the local community and drive exploration of our local small businesses and shops by displaying each piece in one of many downtown venues. Calling all pasty enthusiasts! Join in the first-ever Pasty Relay in historic Calumet. Teams of four will race to assemble a giant pasty through a four-stage gauntlet replicating the art of pasty making. It'll be messy, but its a small price to pay for everylasting glory.
You've got four teammates and four epic stages. In the end, you'll have one giant pasty. Each teammate races to complete a stage relay-style. Do you go for speed or perfection? That's up to you.
